One in five women are affected by depression and anxiety during pregnancy and the first year of their child’s life, so it is important to know the signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety, and that your feelings are normal.

Many of us struggle when life changes and the birth of a baby is a big change. However, depression is different to those usual feeling of stress, tearfulness, sadness and being overwhelmed. The low mood that is depression is much more intense, may include suicidal thoughts and will last for two or more weeks.
